Joan M. (Moore) Beehan, 75, of New Bedford, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Terence F. Beehan, to whom she was married for 52 years.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Hugh and Florida (Bernier) Moore, she was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1950.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, where she was an active member of the Women's Guild, Couple's Club and participated in its parish activities. She was also a member of the Catholic Women's Club.
Mrs. Beehan was formerly employed as a paraprofessional with the New Bedford School Department for 30 years and part time for the New Bedford Boys & Girls Club for 13 years, and earlier was employed by the New Bedford Gas Company for 5 years.
Her greatest loves in life were her devoted family and faithful friends. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafting, shopping and traveling, along with being in the company of her six grandchildren and in attendance at their school and sporting events.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Patricia A. Beehan of East Falmouth, Mary A. Duffy and her husband John of Marshfield and East Falmouth, and Barbara A. Duffy and her husband Joseph of Norwell and Mashpee; a sister, Marguerite T. Cushman of Orlando, FL; two brothers, Joseph H. Moore and his wife Jeanine of Orlando and East Falmouth, and William F. Moore and his wife Marie Jeanne of Darien, CT; six grandchildren, Meghan, Brett, Terri, Trevor, Garrett and Kellie; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late James E. Moore.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
