Cohen and his wife Jesse of Brockton and the late Robert F. Cohen.
Funeral Service in the Trinity Covenant Church 1095 South St. Bridgewater Wednesday at 11 am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Bridgewater. Visiting hours in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 4-8 pm. Donations in Dave’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army 216 Centre St. Brockton, MA 02302.
Obituary
Mr. Cohen died Friday morning at the Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Brockton son of the late Samuel and Mary (Sweeney) Cohen. For the past 18 years he has been a resident of Bridgewater and previously he lived in East Bridgewater and Brockton.
Mr. Cohen was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1954 and also graduated from Bridgewater State College and Suffolk University. In 1997 he retired as principal of the Winthrop after 23 years. He had also been principal of the Shaw School. He had received the Teacher of the Year Award. He was a member of the Massachusetts Retired Educators Association and former member of the Brockton Education Association, Massachusetts Teachers Association and the National Educators Association.
During the 1950s Mr. Cohen served in the US Navy aboard the USS Sellstrom.He loved boating and fishing and enjoyed watching sports especially the Red Sox and Patriots.He was also a Civil War history buff.
He is survived by his wife and two sons, a daughter-in-law, two sisters and a brother and several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Robert F. Cohen
