REED- Dorothy A. (Daly), of New Washington, IN, formerly of Winthrop and Georgetown passed away at the St Catherine’s Regional Hospital in Charlestown, IN, on Feb 10, 2008. She was 93. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank E. Reed. Born in Dorchester, MA, in 1914, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Nagel) Daly. Devoted mother of Jacqueline Bowen of New Washington, IN, Robert F. Reed and his wife Janis of Groton, CT, and Donald B. Reed and his wife Corrine of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Adored grandmother of 14, and great-grandmother of 24. Her grandchildren reside in many states including, CA., IL., CT., IN., WI., and MA. She was the Sister of Marion Deroo of Marblehead, Franklin Daly of North Kingston, RI, and the late Betty Lohnes, Elinor “Nunny” Reed, Earl Daly, Buddy Daly, and Richard Daly. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will take place at the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Fri. Feb 15, beginning at 10am. A Funeral Service will take place at the Funeral Home at 1pm. Relatives and friends invited. Interment will be in Winthrop Cemetery. Prior to her retirement; Dorothy was the first Lunch Supervisor at the Georgetown School System and later supervised the Longmeadow school’s lunch program. She retired in 1982. She was the President of the Massachusetts School Lunch Ass. from 1966-1967. Her hobbies included her beautiful gardens where her “green thumb” grew many rose bushes that she shared with all of her friends. Dorothy can best remembered for her summers at Camps Leslie, Rotary, and Moy-Mo-Da-Yo, where she served up many meals for the hungry campers.
