Elizabeth L. “Lil” Hewitt

...retired from New England Power, Tewks-Wilm Emblem Club; 91

TEWKSBURY - Eilzabeth L. “Lil” (Harnden) Hewitt, well known throughout the MerrimackValley for her associations with numerous charities and fraternal organizations, died Monday,Feb. 3, at the Wenthworth Nursing care center in Lowell after a long period of failing health. Shewas the wife of the late Forrest H. “Todd” Hewitt.

She was born in Somerville, July 16, 1911, a daughter of the late Francis and M. Grace (Silva)Harnden, and was raised in the Somerville area. She moved to Tewksbury in 1950.Prior to retirement, she worked as a secretary to the Executive Vice President of the NewEngland Power Company.

She was active in the Tewksbury senior citizens community, where she served as the President ofthe Tewksbury Golden Age Club and was also an appointed member of the Council on Aging. She was also employed by Community Teamwork Inc. of greater Lowell. She also served asPresident of the Saunders Circle senior community’s “Circle Club.”She had served as Commanderof Tewksbury D.A.V. Auxiliary, Post 110 in Tewksbury. She was a Charter Member of theTewksbury-Wilmington Emblem Club, and served as the club president.

She was a communicant of St. William’s Church, and was a member of St. William’s B.V.M.Sodality.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Dennis P. and his wife Susan (Barry) Hewitt ofWilmington, one daughter and son-in-law; Susan and her husband David Wilson of Lowell, a son-in-law; Harold Creamer of Tewksbury, two daughters-in-law; Charlotte (Raymond-Beaulieu)Hewitt of Nashua, NH, Jean (LePine) Hewitt of Fla., two sisters; Helen D. Hayes of NY, BunnieCiampa of Tewksbury, a brother, Kenneth Harnden of CT, numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was also mother of the late Richard Hewitt, Forrest H. Hewitt Jr., Judith Creamer andValarie Cotreau, sister of the late Priscilla “Pat” Martini, Phyllis Hughes, and GraceMcDonald, and grandmother of the late Gary, Wayne and John Derouin.

Her funeral is Friday, Feb. 7, at 9:00 a.m. from the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of Deweyand Main Sts. (Rte 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, phone (800 or 978) 851 2950. Funeral MassFriday at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main st. (Rte 38) Tewksbury. Visiting hoursThursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. G.A.C. service Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Emblem Club Ritual, Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
