Obituary

William G. Sullivan, of Winchester, passed away at Winchester Hospital on Feb. 10th. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Whelan) Sullivan. Bill was raised in Boston and graduated from Brighton High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served in World War II as a Fireman 1st Class. Upon discharge, he returned to Boston and worked as a firefighter for 35 years, retiring in 1983. He was a proud member of Ladder Co. 15, 14 and 9 in Allston, Brighton and Charlestown. A resident of Winchester for over 35 years, he was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church there. He and his wife, Margaret C. (Connors) raised their children in Winchester, where they enjoyed many happy years. Bill was the loving father of the late Michael Sullivan and his wife Kathleen of Andover, William G., Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Reading, Helene Beckford and her husband Woodrow of Billerica, and Brian L. Sullivan and his wife Joanie of Chester, NH. He was the dear brother of Jean Loh of Pelham, NH and the late John and Paul Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan is further survived by 9 grandchildren. His Funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Thurs., Feb. 14th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting Hours are Wed. from 4-8PM. Burial will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
