Obituary

Worcester—Marie T. Shamgochian, 50, died Friday, February 8, 2008. She leaves her brother, Robert P. and wife Andrea; sister, Barbara C. and husband Harvey; Uncle Joseph Derderian, Aunt Margaret Boosahda, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A brother, Thomas G. Shamgochian predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Atty. George K. and Sophie (Derderian) Shamgochian. A graduate of Doherty HS, she received her BA and MA in Musicology from Boston University. A brilliant musician, Marie was a member of the Worcester Master Singers, Handel and Hyden Society of Boston, and volunteered at the Worcester Art Museum, Higgins Armory and Antiquarian Museums. The First Unitarian Church of Worcester choir and responsibility as their Music Librarian were her passions.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wed., Feb 13, in the First Unitarian Church of Worcester, 90 Main Street. Private burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. (Dahngark Service 6:00 p.m.) Tues. Feb. 12, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Unitarian Church – Music Fund 90 Main St., Worcester MA 01608 or the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester MA 01609.
