In Taunton, February 9, 2008 Mary E. (Fenton) Holmes died at Morton Hospital in Taunton at the age of 90. Born in Mansfield, Ma., Mary was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alice (Hartigan) Fenton and the wife of the late William J. Holmes. Mary was a lifelong resident of Taunton She graduated from St. Mary’s High School and Chandler School of Business in Boston. Mary worked as a legal Sectary for Attorney Richard Bentley in Taunton retiring in 1987. She was very active in many St. Mary’s Activities as well as St Mary’s Woman’s Guild, Queens Daughters, Coyle High Mother’s Club and was a recipient of the Marion Medal from St. Mary’s Church in Taunton. She was the mother of Mary Sandstrom of Brockton, Patricia McNearney of Mattapoisett, William Holmes and his wife Sheryl of Mashpee, Robert Holmes of Pocasset and the late Bernard and John Holmes. Grandmother of Sixteen Grandchildren and Three Great Grandchildren. Sister of the late Alice McDermott, Msg. Bernard Fenton and Edward Fenton. Mother in-law of Lori Holmes of Taunton. Funeral will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton on Wednesday, February 13th at 10 am. Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Taunton at 11 am. calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 pm. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Msg.
