Obituary

Mr. Anthony C. DeMelis 84, of Peabody formerly of Stoneham and Medford died Friday at Youville Hospital in Cambridge following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Irene (Testa) DeMelis.
He was born in Boston, son of the late Camillo and Anna C. (DiMarco) DeMelis. He grew up in Boston’s North end and is a 1941 graduate of Boston English High School. Following graduation, He served in the U. S. Army during WWII. A Purple Heart recipient he served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army during WWII.
He worked as a Letter Carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for over 33 years, retiring in 1987. In addition to being a dedicated family man he was very talented working with marble and tile. Accredited with superior repair skills he was sought after for his knowledge in remodeling and tiling.
He leaves 2 sons, Ronald C. DeMelis of Revere, Kenneth P. DeMelis and his Fiance Marci Jacobs of Chelsea. Dear brother of Olga Tramontozzi of Lexington and John DeMelis of Medford. Loving grandfather of Ronald DeMelis Jr. and Marisa DeMelis. Funeral from Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Wednesday at 9am followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
