Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Calder, 75 of Auburn, NH died Friday February 8, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Calder was born in Methuen, MA on March 2, 1932 the daughter of the late John J. and Mary L. (Gurien) Forrest. She was raised in Methuen and was a graduate of Edward F. Searles High School. She married William F. Calder in 1951. She resided in Pennsylvania for 15 years and later moved to E. Derry and more recently to Auburn in 1994. She worked as a self employed elder caretaker.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Betty spent her life caring for her family. She was the vice president of the Massabesic Seniors Club, and an avid Red Sox fan. She loved spending time with Oscar and Brady. She also enjoyed the beach, feeding her birds, bus trips, and playing cards with her friends, gardening and crocheting. Betty made many beautiful dolls and afghans that her family will cherish. Betty’s greatest joy was her trip to Ireland.
She is survived by her four sons, William F. Calder and his wife Mary of Auburn, Douglas F. Calder and his wife Theresa of Scranton, PA, James Calder of Auburn, David J. Calder and his best friend David Morgan, of Factoryville, PA, one daughter, Deborah Ann Jakubos and her husband Joseph of Factoryville, PA, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Ann Arsenault of Sandown, NH. She was predeceased by her husband, William F. Calder in 1993 and by her son, Stephen J. Calder in 1980.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry is handling arrangements
