Cosmo “Cosie” Luongo

..active in St. William’s Parish; 75

TEWKSBURY - Cosmo “Cosie” Luongo, 75, a U.S.A.F. veteran and active member of St.William’s parish, died Saturday morning, Feb. 1, at Saint’s Memorial Medical Center in Lowell,after suffering a stroke at his home on Wednesday morning. He was the husband of Yolanda“Yolie” (Mustone) Luongo, with whom he had celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this pastOctober 3rd.

He was born in Boston, July 6, 1927, a son of the late Attilio and Maria (Dianisio) Luongo. Hewas raised in the North End of Boston, but had been a resident of Tewksbury since 1961.

During the Korean War era, he served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in the North Atlantic andIceland. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.

Although disabled since 1988, he had worked his earlier years for the Globe Union Company inMedford, and later for the U.S. Postal Center in So. Boston.

He was active at St. William’s Church in Tewksbury, where he served as an Usher at the SundayNoon Masses. He was also a member of the St. William’s Men’s Club. He also enjoyedmembership in the Fr. Coppen’s Council, Knights of Columbus, Council 4336 in Tewksbury.

For many years, he enjoyed annual vacations to Nassau Beach in the Bahamas with his extendedfamily and friends.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Desiree Luongo and Ronald of Derry N.H.,Teresa Luongo and Tony of Methuen, five sons, Cosmo Luongo Jr. of Lowell, Arthur Luongo,Mark Luongo and Beth, Paul Luongo and Jill all of Tewksbury, and Joseph Luongo of S.C., onesister, Nancy and her husband Zachary Natale of Boston’s North End, 9 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren.

He was also brother of the late Ernest Luongo and Jane Jutras.

His Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Feb. 4, in St. William’s Church. Interment with military honors wasat Tewksbury Cemetery.
