Mary B. Commendatore, Mary B., 77, of Greenville, a retired dental hygienist, died Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Fatima Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Salvatore N. Commendatore. They had been married for 57 years.
Born in Waterbury, CT, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Palma (Laspino) Barbino. She had been a resident of Smithfield since 1968.
Mary was a member of the St. Philip’s Ladies Guild and Our Lady of Peace Prayer Group. She was Eucharistic Minister for St. Philip Church and she visited many nursing home residents throughout Smithfield. She was a member of the St. Philip Choir and she volunteered her time unselfishly to all organizations associated with St. Philip. She was a leader of a weekly senacel to pray the Rosary at St. Philip’s Church. She was also involved with the Tiny Tots Program of St. Philip’s School. She cooked for the homeless for Breadlines, a non profit organization. She was a former Boy Scout leader.
Mary leaves her loving children, Paula Commendatore, Palma Pelletier and her husband Larry, Alfred Commendatore , Anthony Commendatore and his wife Mary, Mary Lynn DeCrescenzo and her husband Anthony, Michael Commendatore and his wife Cheryl and Marcia Vallier, her fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Frank Barbino and a sister Rose Faiia. She was the sister of the late Joseph and Angelo Barbino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 9:30 am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Visitation respectfully omitted. Mary will be laid to rest in Waterbury, CT at a later date. Please omit flowers. Donations in her memory may be made to the Diabetes Assn., P.O.
