Dartmouth, MA. Edwin Pacheco Mello age 85 died Sunday February 3rd with his loving family present. He was the widow of Elvira D. (Medeiros) Mello. He was the father of Dennis Joseph and his wife Dorothy Mello of Lakeville and the late Edwin Mello. He was the long time friend of Dorothy Rubbicco of Rochester, MA. He was the grandfather of Laura Rae Miller, and Timothy Mello. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Mello was the son of the late Joseph and Elvira (Silva) Mello He served the City of New Bedford as a Firefighter for 31 years; he retired from Station #11. He was a U.S.Army Veteran of the World War II. He was a Heavy Weight Weightlifting Champion of New England of 1957-58. He also loved sailing.
Mr. Mello’s Funeral Service will be Saturday at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 9A.M. Reverend Timothy L. Crump will officiate funeral services beginning at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery with full military honors. Visiting will be the one-hour prior to funeral service.
