Obituary

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. Gerald J. Jerry Deeley, 76, of Pompano Beach, and a former Franklin and Roslindale resident, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at North Broward Medical Center in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He was the husband of Gloria J. (Guisti) Deeley.

Born in Cambridge, Aug. 26, 1931, a son of the late Jeremiah and Anna Broderick Deeley.

He was raised in Boston and was a graduate of Mission High School in Roxbury.

A horticulturist and restauranteur, he owned and operated the former Patient Lucys Restaurant in Plainville for many years.

He served in the Army during the Korean War. He attained the rank of private first class and was awarded the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in January 1954.

He was a proud life member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and in addition to family, loved to travel, especially to Ireland.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Jay Deeley of Weymouth, Robert Deeley and his wife, Kathleen, of Kingston, James Howard and his wife, Laura, and Jon Howard and his wife, Maria, of Vermont; one brother, John Deeley of Margate, Fla.; two sisters, Mary McEleney of Dorchester and Nancy Tobin of Kennebunk, Maine; three grandchildren, Jonathan and Emily Deeley of Kingston and Oscar Howard of Vermont.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors Saturday at 8:15 a.m., from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., with a funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, Franklin, at 9 a.m. Interment is private.

Calling hours are Friday, February 8, 2008, 4 to 8 p.m.
