Lucy F. Merritt, 87, of Ashburn died Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Ashburn Health Care in Ashburn, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Friday, February 8, at the Paulk Funeral Chapel in Ocilla with Rev. Brent Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Brushy Creek Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until the funeral hour at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Merritt was born December 30, 1920 in Irwin County to the late John Franklin and Lucy Arnold Faulk. She was a 1938 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and former owner-operator of Lucy Locket’s Drive-In in Ocilla. She moved to Washington, D.C. in the 1950’s, where she worked for American Finance for 29 years. Mrs. Merritt was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Appomattox, Virginia.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Hickman of Ashburn; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Lawton “Bob” Merritt and a daughter: Marcia Powell.
