WORCESTER____Jane M. (Czyryca) Mendys, 90, of Worcester, died Monday February 4 in Christopher House, 10 Mary Scano Drive. Her husband, Frank J. Mendys died in 1976.
She leaves two daughters, Joan E. Hagstrom and her husband Walter T. Hagstrom, Sr. of Millbury and Diane P. O’Connell and her husband Philip D. O’Connell, Jr. of Auburn; four grandchildren, Honora Shibley of Wilmington, North Carolina; Walter T. Hagstrom, Jr. of Quincy; Jane Nolan of Millbury and Alicia O’Connell of Brooklyn, New York; seven great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother and three sisters, Edward Czyryca, Stella Kuczynski, Genevieve Debs and Bernice Leniek. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Anthony and Caroline (Sawicki) Czyryca and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Mendys was a stitcher many years for Paul Hats and retired in 1978. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and graduated from Worcester Girl’s Trade High School.
The family of Jane Mendys would like to express to the staff of Christopher House Nursing & Rehab Center their heart felt appreciation for the care and tenderness given to their mother and the compassion shown to her daughters.
The funeral will be held on Thursday February 7 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday February 7 in the funeral home.
