Obituary

SALEM - Catherine J. “Kay” (Pszenny) Pickett, 96, wife of the late Philip P. Pickett, died peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday morning, February 5, 2008. Kay was the local Avon Lady for 40 years and was a member of the Avon Presidential Club.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late William & Nellie (Bartnicki) Pszenny.

A lifelong resident of the city, she was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Ladies Auxiliary, Chapter 55, where she held the office of financial secretary. She was a member of the Polish woman’s organization at the House of Seven Gables and the Womens Polish American Citizen Club, all of Salem. She was a parishioner of the St. James Church, Salem where she volunteered at their weekly bingo games.

Kay is survived by 1 son, Peter Pickett and Muriel Snow of Beverly, 3 daughters, Mary Janard, Elizabeth and her husband Thomas McKinnon all of Salem and Felicity “Phyllis” Pickett of Rowe MA, 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Jane Sarnowski of Salem, and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Eugene Pickett Francis Pickett and John J. Pickett and sister of the late John W., Leo, Charles, Zygmont, Raymond J., Alphonse and Henry J. Pszenny, Mildred Grabowski, Alice Connelly and Genevieve Wolkiewicz.

Kay’s funeral service will be held Friday at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at St. James Church, Salem. Visiting hours are Thursday, 4 to 8 pm. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
