Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Dorothy M. (Johnson) Maish, age 94, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 3 ½ years, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at her home.
For 65 years she was the wife of Arthur E. Maish, who died in 1996.
Born in Clinton County, Indiana on July 11, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Mary Katherine (Rutan) Johnson.
Mrs. Maish attended Colfax schools and graduated from Colfax High School in 1931.
Prior to her retirement in 1974, she was a homemaker and also worked as a realtor for the office of Harold Heavilan Realty in Frankfort, IN.
Following their retirement, she and her late husband moved to Clearwater, FL, where she lived until moving to Tewksbury in 2004.
Mrs. Maish was an active member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Frankfort, IN and the Sky Crest Methodist Church in Clearwater, FL. In addition, she was active in community affairs in both communities.
According to her family, she was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed doing for others, singing in church choirs, writing letters and poetry, sewing, playing shuffleboard and dominos and spending time with her family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Mary Jane Myers of Lowell and Joanne Myers and her husband Martin “Whitey” Myers of Tewksbury, with whom she resided; two sons, John Maish and his wife Wanda of Acworth, GA and David Maish and his wife Sallie of Poinciana, FL; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends with whom she has kept in contact.
Mrs. Maish was the sister of the late Maida Dawson, Wilbur and Kenneth Johnson and mother-in-law of the late John C. Myers.
Relatives and friends will be received Saturday, February 16th, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by her memorial service to be held at the funeral home.
