In Taunton, February 4, 2008 Allen L. Windle Sr., died at Longmeadow Nursing Home in Taunton at the age of 87. Born in Peebles, Ohio, Allen was the son of the late Holmer and Nola (Hoffer) Windle and lived in Taunton since 1962. He was employed at the Brockton VA as a Medical Assistant and also worked at Broadway Shell as a mechanic. Allen was a decorated U.S. Army war veteran and POW during WWII. Later serving his country during the Korean War. Allen proudly served his country from 1939 to 1962. Allen enjoyed playing the mandolin, music and loved to grill and cook food. Allen was the husband of Joyce J. (Batista) Windle of Taunton, Father of Nancy Delorey and her husband David of Taunton, Allen Windle Jr. of Taunton, James Windle of Taunton, Ervin Windle of Attleboro, Allen P. Windle of Sandwich, Connie Windle of South Carolina and Lila Windle of Alabama. Grandfather of Macayla Delorey of Taunton, Jennah Windle of Taunton, Jared Windle of Taunton, Kara Delorey of Bridgewater and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brother of Garnet Collins of Ohio and Earl Windle of Ohio. Uncle of several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton on Friday, February 8th at 9 am. Funeral Mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Taunton at 10 am. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8 pm. Interment Cedar Knoll Cemetery in East Taunton.
