Obituary

Josephine B. (Prokopowicz) Proko, 90, of Medway, died Sunday, February 3, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of Alphonse D. Proko who died in 1989.

Born in Worcester on June 11, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Stephany (Ruscik) Prokopowicz. Mrs. Proko was raised and educated in Worcester and had lived in Medway with her daughter since 2001. She had formerly resided in Bullhead City, AZ for 20 years.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Proko was a secretary at the Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. She had formerly worked as an L.P.N. at Worcester area hospitals.

She loved going on the Medway Senior Center trips to Foxwoods and was an avid reader of mystery novels.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Proko of New Britain, CT and Deborah McIntosh and her husband, Tom of Medway; her grandchildren, Estrella Haase, Gabriel Woods and Emily and Samantha McIntosh and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Thursday, February 7 at 9:15 a.m. from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village St., Medway at 10 o’clock.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m.

Entombment will take place privately at Notre Dame Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum in Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
