Obituary

Antonio D. Silva, 45, of New Bedford died January 30, 2008 unexpectedly due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was the husband of Matilde L. (Rosa) Silva.
Born in St. Vincente, Cape Verde, the son of Rita Silva of Portugal and the late Domingo Rosario, he lived in Portugal before moving to New Bedford two years ago.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mr. Silva was employed as a construction worker and worked nights at the Cape Verdean Veterans Hall.
A true family man, he was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He was an avid soccer fan and enjoyed watching the Benfica Soccer Team.
Survivors include his wife: his mother; 4 daughters, Claudia, Telma, Vanda, and Vanessa Silva, all of New Bedford; his brothers and sisters, Maria Isabel, Ana Rita, Osvaldina, Aurisia, Filó, Adriano, Osvaldo, Carlos, Eduardo, Joao, Nuno, Jose and Carlos V., all in Portugal; his mother-in-law, Maria Madalena Rosa; 19 brothers and sisters-in-law, including Rita Lopes, Manuel Santos, Joao Almeida, Daniel Alves, and Maria and Benilde DePina; and many nieces, nephews, and other close relatives.
You will be forever in our hearts, Rest In Peace Antonio.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Saturday, February 9th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, February 8th from 5-9 PM. A benefit fund has been established for his wife and children. Donations may be made to the Silva Family Fund at any Sovereign Bank location.
