Obituary

Pauline A. (Stefanik) Durett, 76, of Salem, NH died Friday, Feb. 1 at Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, MA.

Pauline was born and educated in Holyoke, MA the daughter of the late Helen (Tenczar) and Paul Stefanik, Sr. She was the oldest of nine children. Pauline graduated from Holyoke High school in 1948, Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Holyoke in 1951 and Boston College in 1954. She taught nursing at both Holyoke and Lynn Hospitals, and worked at Boston City Hospital, Salem Hospital and the former Bon Secour Hospital. Pauline received an appointment in the Naval Reserves, attained a Lt. JG Commission and was assigned to the US Naval & Marine Corps’ Reserve Training Center in Springfield, MA serving until 1961.

Pauline was active in 4-H and Jr. Achievement as a girl and sang in the church choir and shows for many years. An active member of St. Joseph Parish in Salem since 1961, she was a member of Court Holy Name #1425 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Salem Jr. Women’s Club, Christian Women’s Club, Salem, Senior Center and Boston College Alumni Association.

Pauline was an avid reader and loved to travel. She visited all 50 states by camper and motor home. She and her husband traveled to every continent except for Antarctica.

She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Dewey Durett.

Craig & his wife Holli of Londonderry, NH

7 Grandchildren: Olivia, Wesley, Arielle, Aimee, Adam, Lucas and Victoria

5 Sisters: Dorothy of VA, Lorraine of FL, Sandra of ME, Joyce & Karen of MA

2 Brothers: Paul Jr. of CT and Carl of NY
Several Nieces and Nephews

Calling hours will be Sunday, Feb. 10 from 2-6 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. The Funeral Mass will be Monday at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph Church, Salem, NH. Graveside Services will be at 2 PM at Mater-Dolorosa Cemetery, So. Hadley, MA.
