SALEM- Chester A. Spychalski, Sr., 94, husband of the late Genevieve H. (Soboczinski) Spychalski, of Peabody, died Thursday evening, January 30, 2003, in the Salem Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late John & Josephine (Jarzynka) Spychalski.
Prior to his retirement in 1970, he was employed in the leather industry for 40 years. He worked at Benz Kid Leather Co. in Lynn for many years, then at A. C. Lawrence and Sirois Leather, both in Peabody. He was affiliated with the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home for 55 years before retiring from funeral service in 1996.
A resident of Peabody since 1933, he was a communicant of the former St Joseph Church in Peabody until its closing and was an organizer and president of the St Joseph Church Holy Name Society. He was a member of the St Joseph Society, PRCU and a communicant of the St John The Baptist Church, both of Salem.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Chester A. Spychalski Jr, and his wife Janice, of Longwood, Florida, three grandchildren, David and his wife Joanna Spychalski of Lynchburg, Virginia, Laura Spychalski of Baltimore, Maryland, Derek and his wife, Amy Spychalski of Chicago, Illinois, five great grandchildren, Madison, Sheridan, Griffin, Pearson and Peyton Spychalski, all of Lynchburg, Virginia, one sister-in-law, Margaret H. Conlin of Peabody, four nieces and three nephews. He was the brother of the late Stasia Spychalski and Louis J. Spychalski, Sr.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by funeral Mass at 10 am at the St John The Baptist Church, Salem.
