Billie Mae Crownover Barnes of Warrenton, North Carolina died Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Magnolia Gardens Nursing Home in Warrenton, North Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 4, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Barnes was born on November 14, 1934 in Tift County and was the daughter of William Lewis Crownover, deceased, and Dorothy Kewley Crownover of Tifton. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Crownover. She was a retired realtor and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartford, Alabama.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Barnes is survived by her husband, James Barnes of Louisburg, North Carolina; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Richard and Jeana Barnes of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and David Michael and Ramona Barnes of Maylene, Alabama; four brothers, James Crownover of Fayetteville, Robert Crownover of Griffin, W. L. Crownover, Jr. of Highfalls, and Scott Crownover of Ty Ty; one sister, Nancy Daws of Tallahassee, Florida; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
