Mary Jones Greer, 91, of Moultrie, formerly of Tifton, died Friday, February 1,2008, at The Golden Apple Assisted Living Home in Moultrie. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2008, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton's First Baptist Church. Dr. Wayne Roe, Dr. W. Ches Smith, III and Rev. Andy Cashwell will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Alsobrooks, Keelin Alsobrooks, Blake Askew, Austin Askew, Hinton Bolinger, Rick White and J. D. White. Honorary pallbearers will be the residents and staff of the Golden Apple Assisted Living Home in Moultrie. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 3, 2008, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Greer was born on September 30, 1916 in Omega and was the daughter of John Henderson Keelin Jones and Mattie Lou Bryan Jones, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hinton H. Greer; one daughter, Anne Greer White; one brother, Claude Jones; and five sisters, Lucille J. Wommack, Alma J. Woody, Ada J. Summers, Eula J. Lindsey and Ruth J. Bearden. She was a retired hairdresser and a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir. She lived her entire life in Tift County.
Ms. Greer is survived by one daughter and two sons-in-law, Sandra Greer Askew and her husband, Ray, of Moultrie; and Richard White of Tallahassee, Florida; one sister, Emma J. Griffin of Mims, Florida; five grandchildren and their spouses, Doug and Joann White, Dave and Mary White, Sandee and Randy Alsobrooks, Scott and Deeva Askew, and Stacee and Dwayne Bolinger; and eleven great grandchildren, Daniel Alsobrooks, Blake Askew, Candie McKinnon and her husband, Jaron, Keelin Alsobrooks, Jennifer Batten, Austin Askew, Diana White, J. D. White, Hinton Bolinger, Rick White and Rachel White.
