GLOUCESTER: Sarah C. (Pascucci) Wonson, 82, formerly of Maplewood Avenue, died Thursday morning, January 31, 2008, in the Golden Living Center following an extended illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Russell Wonson, who died in October of 2002. They had shared sixty years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester on August 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Rosalie (LoGrasso) Pascucci. Sarah helped with raising her younger brothers and sisters. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, she was a member of the Gloucester High School class of 1943 and enjoyed attending their class reunions.
Mrs. Wonson was employed for seventeen years at the former Empire Fish Company. She was a very good seamstress and made many outfits for her daughters and herself. She also enjoyed knitting and reading. She was member of the Gloucester Women’s Club and the Women’s Auxiliary of the Capt. Lester S. Wass Post #3, American Legion. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and William Niemi of Gloucester, a granddaughter, Regina Robbins of Burlington, VT, a grandson, Michael Burney of West Peabody, three sisters, Frances Choate of Los Vegas, NV, Esther, wife of Charles Desjardins of Beverly, and Rosalie King of Miami, FL, two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Louis and Marilyn Pascucci of Gloucester, William “Billy” and Patricia Pascucci of Essex, Phyllis Pascucci of St. Petersburg, FL, and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Burney, six brothers, Anthony “Tony” Pascucci, who owned a shoe shop at 33 Main Street, Gloucester, Joseph, Samuel, Everett, Americo “Henry” and Francis “Frank” Pascucci and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Lawrence Perry.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Beech Grove Cemetery, Rockport.
