WORCESTER____Sophie H. (Lewandowska) Leosz, 89, of Worcester, died Sunday January 27 in Autumn Village Nursing Center. Her husband, Walter Leosz died in 2004.
She leaves a son, Chet M. Leosz and his wife Sandy of Holden; a granddaughter, Jennifer A. Marriott and her husband Rob of Boulder, CO., two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Conor, two nieces, Urszula Prominski and her husband Jacek and their children Victoria, Gabriella and John and Kasia Kaminski and her husband Slawek and their children Adam and Matthew. Her daughter, Barbara H. Leosz died in 1969. She was born in Lwow, Poland, a daughter of Michael and Katherine Lewandowski and later lived in Germany before coming here in 1949.
Mrs. Leosz was a housekeeper for State Mutual Life Assurance Co. and worker there more than 30 years before retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Sophie enjoyed the outdoors especially walking and working in her yard.
Her family wishes to thank the staff of Autumn Village and New England Hospice for the compassionate and exemplary care they afforded Sophie at Autumn Village and also thanks to Phyllis Capuano for being a good friend to Sophie while she was a resident of Autumn Village.
The funeral will be private with a Mass in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
