ADDISON, MI — Richard C. Bryan, age 88 years, formerly of Fairhaven, died January 25, 2008, in Michigan after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Myra (Miller) Bryan.
Born in Westfield, Ma., he was the son of the late Edward C. and Amy (Stiles) Bryan and graduated from Westfield High School in 1937 and was a member of the Methodist church there.
Following extensive training in the General Electric Engineer program, he was employed by the company in Pittsfield, Ma., and Schenectady, N.Y., as Development Plant Engineer. Later he became associated with Beetle Plastics as General Manager and Ashworth Plastics, both of Fall River, Ma., retiring in 1984.
While living in Fairhaven from 1952-2007, he was a member of the Unitarian Memorial Church and then the First Congregational Church.
It was only in the fall of 2007 that Richard and Myra moved to Addison, Michigan to be near their daughter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Gail Belman of Addison, Michigan; his sons, Clark E. Bryan of St. Inigoes, Maryland and John H. Bryan, of Ft. Collins, Colorado; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren; a nephew, Robert Morrill of Fairhaven; and a niece, Jane Morrill of Sharon, Ma. He was the brother of the late Elizabeth Morrill of Fairhaven.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 29th from 3-4 P.M., in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., at the corner of Elm St., New Bedford, with a prayer service at 4 P.M. Burial will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield, Ma., on Wednesday at 1 P.M.
