Obituary

Robert D. MacDougall , a lifelong resident of Stoughton, passed away on January 18, 2008 at The Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. He was 85 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Wilkie) MacDougall and a son of the late William and Helena MacDougall.

Robert was in the United States Coast Guard during World War II on the USS Mosley – DE 321 and had the distinction of being a “Plank Owner “ of the USS Slater - DE 766.

After the war, he worked for the Westinghouse Corp. in Hyde Park, Massachusetts and later retired there. He became an avid reader, with special interests in United States military history. He was also a member of the Destroyer – Escort Association and the Stoughton American Legion Post # 89.

Mr. MacDougall is survived by his son, Bruce and his wife Linda of Naples, Maine, his daughter, Janice Barkley of Brockton, Massachusetts, his sisters, Helena Ayers of Henniker, New Hampshire, Charlotte Matthews of Stoughton, Massachusetts, Marion Davies of Omaha, Nebraska, his grand-daughter Kimberly Thompson and her husband Peter also of Naples, Maine, his great – grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and friends. He will be deeply missed by his beloved cat, Sweetie.

At his request, all funeral services are private and his interment will be held at a later date in Merrimac, Massachusetts.
