Francis J. “Frank” Richardson, 96 years, of Brockton, died Wednesday January 23, 2008 at Windsor Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Yarmouth. Frank was the husband of the late Elinor (Donovan) Richardson. He was born in Providence, RI a son of the late John J. and Katherine (Hynes) Richardson and had lived in Brockton for over 50 years.
He had been employed for 53 years by Abington, Inc., starting as a general laborer, and retiring as vice president of manufacturing. He took machine shop courses at Wentworth Institute and industrial engineering courses at Boston University and Northeastern University. Frank was past treasurer of the South Shore Industrial Engineers Assoc, past member of the Production and Inventory Control Society and the Industrial Advisory Committee for South Shore Vocational Technical High School. Frank’s interest in horses continued throughout his life from when he started working in stables and traveling with the Sam Hall Wild West Show as a young man to riding and following horse shows and fairs. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing and square dancing where he had once been a “caller”.
He was the father of the late Shirley Gunning and Elaine Richardson. He is survived by a close family friend Eric Jacoby and his three children Robin, Sandra and Eric Jacoby, Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 11 am with visitation 10-11 am. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
