Obituary

Zigmont "Ziggy" Dubicki, 74, died peacefully at his home in Noank Village on January 24, 2008, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

He was born on May 27, 1933 in Cielechowszczyna, Poland, the son of Stanley and Veronica Dubicki. He came to the United States at the age of 16 with his parents and siblings.

He retired from the First National Stores after 40 years, many of which he worked as a Manager. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in both Korea and Japan.

He is survived by his wife Sophia, his son Donald of Noank and his daughter Christina and her husband William Collins of Newport, RI; a sister Margaret Fenn and her husband Robert of Uncasville, a brother Attorney Narcyz Dubicki of Waterford and a sister in-law Shannon Dubicki of Alexandria, VA. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces- nephews and family in Chicago, Poland and England. He was predeceased by his daughter Vanessa, his mother Veronica and his brother Attorney Henry Dubicki.

Ziggy had a zest for life and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed his gardens and was an enthusiastic cook. He will be deeply missed by many.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday from 9:30am - 10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton.

Burial with military honors will follow at Noank Valley Cemetery.
