GLOUCESTER: Stephen B. Dussourd, 55, died unexpectedly Thursday,January 24, 2008 in Addison Gilbert Hospital.
Born in Lynn on June 14, 1952, he was the son of Catherine F. (Boland) Dussourd of Gloucester and the late Henry "Hank" Dussourd.
In the mid-1960’s, Steve moved to Magnolia with his parents and sister, Diane. He was a graduate of the Gloucester High class of 1970. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy. Following his service, he began an apprenticeship as a machinist. Several years later, he married Kathleen (Auld) and joined the Gloucester Police Department where he served his community for eleven years before retiring early to pursue other interests.
Steve enjoyed tinkering, was a golf enthusiast and had quick wit. He was always good for an off-colored joke or anecdote, and rarely let a foolish comment go unchecked.
In addition to his mother and sister, Diane Gilliss, Steve is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Dussourd, and son, Kyle Dussourd of Salem; both of whom he spoke of often and proudly. He is also survived by his nephews, Stephen, Jamie, and Jason Gilliss and Christopher Gilliss Huynh, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
His funeral services will be held on Monday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dussourd family, c/o Stephanie Dussourd, 189 North St., Salem, MA 01970. Committal services will be held privately.
