
GLOUCESTER: Doris E. (Hildonen) Parsons, 84, died on Monday, January 21, 2008, at the Golden Living Center following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Stanley T. Parsons, who died in January of 2004.
Born in Gloucester on February 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George E. “Jerry” and Blanche (Coull) Hildonen. A graduate of Gloucester High School in 1942, she was a chairman of the class reunion committee for 50 years. A long time active member of Trinity Congregational Church, she was a former member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher, a member of many committees, past president of Trinity Women’s Fellowship, and a member of the Trinity Keenagers Club.
She served in the community as an assistant Girl Scout troop leader, den mother, Past President of the former Beauport Business and Professional Luncheon Club, member of the Gloucester Business & Professional Women’s Club, and North Shore Associated Charities.
She began her working years at the former Gorins’, W.T. Grant Co., Norton’s Dress Shop, and went on to employment at the former Norman’s Stationary Co., Progressive Fish & Oil Co., Good Harbor Beach Inn, and the Yankee Clipper Inn. She retired from the office of the Cape Ann Surgical Associates Inc. concluding many years of working for and with people she truly enjoyed.
She leaves behind, her much loved son and daughter-in-law, Gregg S. and Susan (Nicolosi) Parsons, three grandchildren, Elaine, wife of Michael Muise, Andrea, wife of Anthony Milne, and Michael Parsons, six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher, Alayna, and Maximus Muise, and Zachary and Zoe Milne, a brother-in-law, Benjamin N. Parsons and sisters-in-law, Martha (Parsons), wife of Frederick Perry, Edith (Swinson) Hildonen and Josephine (Reilly) Parsons. She is also survived by several loved and loving nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as many treasured friends. When questioned about hobbies, she would always reply “people”, for she truly enjoyed them. She was also predeceased by her brothers, George E. “Chubby” Hildonen and Raymond H. Hildonen, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rena (Doucette) Hildonen, Ruth (Parsons) and her husband, Frank Marr, Gardner and his wife, Doris Parsons, Warren Parsons, William and his wife, Amy Parsons, and Margaret (Sargent) Parsons.
A memorial service will be held in The Trinity Congregational Church on Sunday, January 27th at 2:00 pm. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. A committal service will be held privately.
