Obituary

Murray R. Haynes, 71, of Manchester, died at his residence January 23, 2008 after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Woodstock, NH, November 19, 1936, and was the son of Nelson and Clara (Sawyer) Haynes. He had been a resident of Manchester more than 35 years.

Mr. Haynes served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1956. He was a former member of the American Legion.

Mr. Haynes was employed by Kollsman Instruments in Merrimack for many years.

In his retirement he was very active in community theatre, having performed in 35 professional and amateur productions with several theatre groups.

He was a communicant of St. Jude Church in Londonderry where he sang in the church choir and was a Eucharistic Minister.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Family members include his wife, Mary (Trask) Haynes, of Manchester; a daughter, Laurie Ann Tuttle, of Warren, MA; a stepson, Edward Helbig, of Brooklyn, NY; 3 grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Haynes, of Madison, ME; three sisters, Edna Stormont, of Plymouth, Patricia Foisy, of Concord, and Nancy Haynes, of Plymouth; his best friend, Michael Donah, of Portsmouth; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother and two sisters.


A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday January 26, 2008 at St. Jude Church, Londonderry.

Burial was in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, where a committal service, with military honors, took place in the cemetery chapel on Monday January 28, 2008.
