Mitzi Griffin Cottle Lassiter, 43, of St. Marys, formerly of Tifton, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at her residence in St. Marys. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2008, at Ty Ty Baptist Church. Rev. Randy Mosley, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in St. Marys, will officiate with burial to follow in Ty Ty Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Griffin, Rodney Parker, Cody Cottle, Sam Cottle, Jonathan Lassiter, Chance Veazey and Rhett Hammond.
Mrs. Lassiter was born on July 18, 1964 in Cook County and was the daughter of Donnie Griffin and Carolyn Yaughn Griffin, both of Tifton. She graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College with a degree in interior design and Valdosta State University, where she received her teaching degree. She was a first and second grade school teacher with the Camden County Board of Education. She had lived in St. Marys for the last five years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Kyle Cottle, who died in 2002, and one brother, Victor T. Parker.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lassiter is survived by her husband, Jay Lassiter of St. Marys; three sons, Sam Cottle of St. Marys, Cody Cottle of St. Marys, and Jonathan Lassiter of St. Marys; one daughter, Anna Lassiter of St. Marys; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rodney and Nancy Parker of Tifton and Dan, Jr. and Lisa Griffin of Tifton.
Family will accept flowers or memorial gifts may be made to the Ty Ty Baptist Church Building Fund.
