DRACUT- John J. Cieslik, 90, a longtime resident of Dracut, died Monday January 21st at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Irene E. (Bubnel) Cieslik, to whom he was married for sixty three years.
He was born in Methuen on July 16, 1917, and was the son of the late John and Marcella (Brach) Cieslik. He attended Dracut schools.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Cieslik was employed for many years as a mechanic by the former New England Telephone in Lawrence. Previous to that he was employed as a weaver by local mills.
In his free time, he enjoyed working on his family farm and Polka dancing with the Happy Travelers.
He was a longtime communicant of St. Francis Church in Dracut.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons John Cieslik and his wife Mary of Sandown, NH, and James Cieslik of Dracut and his fiancé Donna Butler of Salem, NH; a daughter Kathryn Sweet and her husband Ernest of Dunstable; eight grandchildren Tricia Cieslik, John Cieslik, Jennifer Cieslik, Jamie Cieslik, Jason Cieslik, Jill Cunha and her husband Michael, Kristen Sweet, and Garrett Sweet and his wife Stephanie; three great grandchildren, Christopher Seidl, Madison Cunha, and Jaike Cieslik; a sister Mary LaMonica of Norwood; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Julius Cieslik, Edward Cieslik, and Mitchell Cieslik.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday at 7:45 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9 AM at St. Francis Church in Dracut. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
