Obituary

Thomas J. Wallace 79 years of Brockton died Monday January 21, 2008 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the husband for 57 years of the late Jean E. (Smith) Wallace.
Mr. Wallace was born and raised in South Boston a son of the late Stephen and Margaret (Connolly) Wallace. For the past 52 years he had been a resident of Brockton.
Following his graduation from St. Augustine High School in Boston he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Japan at the end of WW II. Following his military service he worked at Keystone in Dorchester as a camera and watch repairman. He was a co-owner of Betar Camera Shop on Main St. Brockton. He was also retired from the City of Boston Police Department.
Mr. Wallace enjoyed his cat Midnight and watching sports especially the Patriots and Red Sox. He had also been a member of the Brockton American Legion Post 35.
He is survived by a son and a daughter Kevin J. Wallace of Brockton with whom he made his home and Cheryle A. Beatty and her husband Edward of Sandwich
He was the grandfather of Jennifer Florczyk and her husband Michael of N. Attleboro and Sara Beatty of Stoughton and he was the brother of Barbara Keane and her husband William of Braintree and the late Mary Kearney, Kathleen Wallace and Margaret Wallace. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 5-8 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:30 pm. Burial will be at a later date in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord. Donations in Tom’s name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Avenue Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062.
