Robert C. Dorr 73, of Franklin, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Jean A. (Cornetta) Dorr.
Born in Franklin, April 17, 1934 a son of the late George E. Dorr Sr. and Lucie (Mourey) Dorr, he was a lifelong town resident. He is a graduate of Franklin High School, and for more than 25 years owned and operated the former Petrolane Gas Company in Franklin.
He also worked many years ago for the H. Bullukian & Sons Oil Company in Franklin selling propane products, and more recently had been assisting his son in the operation of Ferrara’s Market in Franklin.
He served in the US Air Force during peacetime.
His hobbies and interests were his family, travel throughout New England, sports yard work and loved to watch golf. He also served the Town of Franklin as a call fireman.
He was a member of the Franklin Lodge of Elks, the American Association of Retired Persons, the Franklin Senior Citizens, and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 40 years are 2 sons, Robert C. Dorr, Jr. of Franklin, Edward L. Dorr Sr. and his wife Laurie of East Taunton, a daughter Kimberly L. Burnham and her husband Kristian of Bow, New Hampshire, a brother George E. Dorr Jr. of Florida a sister Jean McCarthy of Blackstone, and 3 grandchildren Lindsay and Taylor Burnham and Edward L. Dorr Jr. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Irene Cook.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors Thursday January 24, 2008 at 8:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. (www.oterifuneralhome.com) with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Sq. at 9AM. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours are Wednesday January 23, 2008 from 4-8PM at the funeral home.
