GLOUCESTER: Dorothy L. Grant, 85, died Friday, January 18, 2008 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness.
Born in Gloucester on November 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Allen F. and G. Carol (Brown) Grant. She was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1940, where she was a Sawyer Medal recipient and a graduate of the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing class of 1944.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bard Marques of Hudson, NH, two sons, Grant W. Smith and David W. Smith both of Gloucester, two grandchildren, Lacey and Casey Marques both of Hudson, NH and a niece, Susan Brancaleone of Gloucester. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Carol Lucas and Priscilla Shackelford and a brother, Allen F. Grant, Jr.
Her funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
