Helen E. Whitcomb, 73, of Mattapoisett, formerly of Middleboro, died Saturday, January 19, 2008, at Forest View Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
The daughter of the late Joseph C. Whitcomb and Helen L. Whitcomb, she lived in Middleboro most of her life before retiring to Mattapoisett 17 years ago.
She had worked as a children’s librarian at the Middleboro Public Library.
Ms. Whitcomb was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church, the Center School Intergenerational Chorus, and the Sippican Choral Society. She volunteered at both the Center School and Mattapoisett Public libraries.
Survivors include her sister, Gail W. Dunn of Mattapoisett; a nephew, David W. Dunn of Mattapoisett; two nieces, Rebecca D. Chowske of New York and Susan D. Johnson of Hudson, MA and their respective families.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 23, at 11AM at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 22nd from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett.
