Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Salvatore C. Lovasco, 73, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 17, 2008 in the Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of Rosemary (Bichao) Lovasco.
Born in Gloucester on September 2, 1934, he was the son of the late Sebastiano and Grace (Brancaleone) Lovasco. He had resided in Gloucester most of his life before moving to Davenport, Florida three years ago.
Mr. Lovasco was employed as a commercial fisherman out of Gloucester, New Bedford and New York for forty-four years. He later worked as a cook at the former Magnolia Moss and Shorecliff Retirement Home.
He enjoyed watching westerns on television, playing games on his computer and especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren and walks with his beloved dog, “Gigi.” He was also an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
In addition to his wife of forty-eight years, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Marie Bowie and Michele and Eric Shaw all of Gloucester, five grandchildren, Sgt. Christopher Lovasco and his wife, Daisy, Sgt. Michael Lovasco and his companion, Nicole Thompson, Racquel and Cody Shaw and Tyler Bowie, two great-granddaughters, Sophia and Emily, three brothers, Peter and his wife, Sharon Lovasco of Gloucester, Sebastiano “Busty” and his wife, Diane Lovasco of Las Vegas, NV and Joseph Lovasco of Pahrump, NV, a sister, Mary Sinagra Waller and her husband Robert of N. Palm Beach, FL, a sister-in-law, Tina and her husband, Ronald LaFlam, a brother-in-law, John and his wife, Patty Bichao, his godson, Timothy Costa all of Gloucester and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a sister, Catherine “Tina” Brancaleone, a brother, Anthony Lovasco and his in-laws, Valentina and Simplicio (Miguel) Bichao.
His visiting hours will be held on Friday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. At the family’s request, funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Valentina Bichao Scholarship Fund, c/o Cape Ann Savings Bank, 109 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
