Ms. Jessie Mae Douglas was born on August 9, 1921 to the late Emanuel and Josiephine Douglas. On January 19, 2008 Jessie Mae was called to rest from labor at Regency Retirement Village.
She worked for several years at Whitesburg Manor Nursing Home.
Jessie Mae accepted Christ at an early age and joined Beaver Dam Primitive Baptist Church. She later joined Potter’s Hand Ministry, under the leadership of Reverend Eric Peeples. She was a faithful member until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Mr. Ellis W. Ford Sr., their union was blessed with one child. She was also preceded in death by her late husband, Mr. Sam Willie Scott, two sisters and four brothers.
She leaves cherished memories to her son, Mr. Ellis W. Ford Jr. (Georgia); two sisters: Ms. Sophia Massey and Ms. Julia Gordon; one brother, Mr. Percy Douglas; three grandchildren: Mr. Anthony D. Ford Sr. (Levetrice), Ms. Angela D. Wims and Mr. Victor W. Draper; eight great grandchildren: Mr. Anthony D. Ford Jr., Mr. Bryan E. Ford, Mr. Christopher C. Wims Jr., Ms. Ashley N. Wims, Ms. Destiny E. Ford, Ms. Nicole R. Draper, Ms. Whitney L. Draper, and Ms. Victoria S. Draper; four great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services for Ms. Jessie Mae Douglas will be held Friday, January 25, 2008 at 12:00 Noon from Douglas Tabernacle Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Robert Rogers officiating. Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens. The remains of Ms. Douglas will lie in state in the church one hour prior to funeral service.
