James Drew "Dick" Carr, age 86, died Friday, January 18, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North MS after a short illness. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War II. Born January 24, 1921 in Water Valley, MS, he was a son of Thomas Edgar and Pearl Hensley Carr. Dick Carr was a member of Campground Baptist Church of Water Valley.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 19, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The service at 2:30 PM Sunday, January 20, 2008 will be conducted by Rev. David Ross and Rev. Ross Robinson in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery in Lafayette County, with Kris Hunt, John Carr, James Carr, Jerry Hill, Tommy Hill and Billy Gene Moorehead serving as pallbearers.
Dick Carr is survived by a daughter, Yvonne Carr Hunt of Adamsville, TN; two sons, Larry Carr and Phillip Carr, both of Water Valley, MS; one sister, Maxine Carr Hogan of Ferguson, MO; six grandchildren, Kevin Hunt, Kris Hunt, Cheri Carr, John Carr, James Carr, and Emily Carr; and three great grandchildren, Hayden Hunt, Jake Carr, and Mari Carr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Mills Carr (October 26, 2002) and one sister, Marie Carr Lowe.
