Obituary

Diana E. (Black) Galvin, a 2 year resident of Somerville and former lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Thursday January 17, 2008 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a lengthy battle with illnesses. She was 66 years old.

Diana was born in Woburn on December 13, 1941. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1960. Diana was a homemaker taking care of her family, but also donated her time to several organizations in Charlestown including the annual Bunker Hill Day Doll Carriage Parade where she was a judge. She also was a dedicated bingo caller at all 3 catholic churches in Charlestown and several churches in Somerville.

Diana is the beloved wife of 43 years to David J. Galvin. She is the devoted mother of David J. Galvin Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Medford. She is the loving grandmother of Kerri, Christopher, Courtney and David James Galvin. She is the beloved sister of Robert Black, Wayne Black and his wife Janet of Charlestown, John Black of Minnesota and the late William Black.

Diana's Funeral will be held on Tuesday January 22, 2008 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Diana will be on Monday January 21, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
