JANET S. (MCLAY) BRADLEY, of Cohasset, died on Saturday, Dec. 29th, 2007 at the Southwood Nursing Facility in Norwell after a long illness. She was 71. Born in Everett, MA, she was a graduate of the "College of Community Services" UMASS, Boston, Mass Institute of Gerontology, Colby Sawyer College, was a former Vista Volunteer and aide to Governor Michael S. Dukakis. Some of her affiliations were; GBLS, NCLC & NALDA. In addition, Janet was a recipient of "The Dow - Landrum Award" for her outstanding commitment to legal services for the poor.
Daughter of the late Raymond S. and Gwen (Spurr) McLay, she leaves her daughters, Linda S. Lindgren of Cohasset, Diane L. Drake of Sarasota, FL and Jennifer H. Bradley of Wareham. Janet was the grandmother of Kayli L. and Michael L. Bradley also of Wareham. Sister of Paul McLay of Brockton, Susan Emanuello of Arlington and the late Barbara Krauss. Also survived by her extended families; J. Nardo, Jr.of Cohasset and A. Emanuello of Hingham; the Russells of North Weymouth and G. Reid and W. Ogdburn of the NCLC.
The time and location of a Memorial Service will be announced by the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, Hingham at a later date. The interment is to be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Old Ship Memorial Garden, 107 Main St., Hingham, MA 02043.
Janet was a true humanitarian and a free spirit, who strongly believed in the rights of others.
