
WORCESTER____Leon J. Platukis, 89, of Worcester, died Saturday January 12 in Millbury Health Care Center, Millbury. His wife of 64 years, Rose (Potkaj) Platukis died in 2004.
He leaves two daughters, Susan R. Desy of Worcester and Leona Anastasi of Woodstock, CT., five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, a son of Leon and Mary (Rapeikiute) Platukis and lived here all his life.
Mr. Platukis worked many years in the Industrial Ceramics Division of Norton Co., before he retired. He previously was a wire drawer for the U.S. Steel Co.
Leon was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and a member of the former Lithuanian War Veterans Organization. He enjoyed taking day trips around New England.
The funeral will be held on Thursday January 17 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church 341 June Street. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday January 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
