CWO-4 Terrence W. “Terry” McGuire Jr., USMC, retired, died on Tuesday, January 15th the Caritas Norwood Hospital. He was 79 years old. Born in Boston, Terry grew up in Needham and was a graduate of Needham High School Class of 1947. He served proudly in the Marine Corps for his country for 30 years. He fought in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. During the Korean War he fought in the battle of the Chosin Reservoir and was a member of the “Chosin Few”. During his years in the Marine Corp he was the recipient of numerous medals including the Bronze Star. He had been stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Base, Camp Lejuene, the Philadelphia Naval Base retiring from the Marine Corp Finance Center in Kansas City, MO i n1976, after 30 years of dedicated service. Terry worked for Halliday Hospital Supply in Needham and then as the Veterans Agent and Parking Clerk for the Town of Needham, retiring in 1993. He had also served as the Veterans Agent for the Town of Dover. McGuire, CWO-4 Terrence W. Jr. USMC Ret., 79, of Westwood, formerly of North Carolina and Needham. The beloved husband of Barbara A. “Babs” (Boyle) McGuire, he was the loving father of Mary Anne Letourneau and her husband Robert of New Bedford, Kathy M. Michel and her husband Jim of Dover, Sheila Faltermeier and her husband Dennis of Overland Park, KS, Patty M. Noonan and her husband David of Medfield and Terrence W. McGuire III of Wilmington, NC. Dear grandfather of Benedict and John Letourneau, Matt and Joe Michel, Nicci and Charlie Faltermeier, Justin and Courtney Noonan and Bella Turberville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Church 845 High St. in Westwood on Friday January 18th at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Thursday from 4-7 PM.
