New Bedford-Evaristo A. de Sousa age 73, died Tuesday January 15, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family . He was the beloved husband of Maria Ines (Favela) Sousa of New Bedford. He was the father of Maria Manuela Knight and her husband Dale of Indianapolis, IN, Sandra Reis Chatelle and her husband Christopher of Scituate, RI, and Debra Reis Sousa of Bristol, CT. Evaristo was the grandfather of Joseph and Julia Knight and Emily and Abigail Chatelle. He was the brother of Zulmira Amaral and Maria Nasciemento of Sao Miguel, Acores. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. de Sousa was the son of the late Guilherme and Agostina (Amaral) Henrique. He was born in Aqua da Pau, Sao Miguel, Acores and lived here since 1970. He was formerly a supervisor at Alden Shoes in Middleboro. He was a member of the Stackhouse Club.
Mr. de Sousa’s Funeral will be Friday at 8A.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 9 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Burial at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M.
