Obituary

George L. Macuen, Jr., 73, of 201 Providence St, died Monday, January 14, 2008, at home after a long illness. He leaves his wife, Nancy Sanchez Estrada Macuen; his daughters Lisa Walsh and Lauren Ledone of Peterboro, NH, and Mary Ellen Meservey of Worcester; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Alan J. Macuen. He was born in Worcester, son of George L. and Alice (Korpi) Macuen, and graduated from Commerce High in 1953. He served as Tech Sergeant in the US Army in Korea from 1953 to 1956 and served an additional 20 years in the U. S. Army National Guard and Reserves. George worked for New England Telephone for many years as a lineman and cable-splicer, as well as a union rep. He later discovered his entrepreneurial bent, founding TelePrime Systems in 1977 in the earliest days of deregulation of the telephone industry. He also founded Aero Connection Flight Academy in Worcester in 1991. Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Thursday, Jan. 17, from 6-8 p.m. There are not funeral services.
