Cherished grandfather of 2 and great grandfather of 3. Dear brother of Edward J. White of Chicopee, John F. White of Wakefield, Edith D. White of Osterville. Uncle of Robert A. White of Chicopee. A half century on Boston newspapers. 43 years with the Herald – Traveler, the remaining with the Herald, Globe & American Record. Former member of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) and Boston Typographical Union. Served on Election Board for many years as Judge. Veteran, WW II, M.P. N. Africa, Italy & France. In youth, a devotee of fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, both on Long Trail in VT and Appalachian Trail in NH. Funeral from the Joseph Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Thursday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating William’s life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 9am.
