Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Ilse (Seetzen) Hofmann, age 85, a resident of Emerald Court in Tewksbury since October of 2007, died Monday, January 14, 2008 at home, with her family by her side.
She was the wife of Georg Hofmann, with whom she celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on December 22, 2007.
Born in Estonia on February 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Heinrich Maria Emanuel Seetzen and Ida Xenia (Wilhelmine) Seetzen.
Mrs. Hofmann was raised in Estonia, and fled to Germany during the Russian occupation.
In 1956, she and her family emigrated from Germany to the United States.
Mrs. Hofmann resided in Malden for 35 years until moving to Tewksbury.
According to her family, she enjoyed cooking, always researching the best foods and cooking methods for a healthy life. She loved to sew, creating much of her and her husband’s wardrobe, making drapes, for them and her family, upholstering furniture, and creating art.
A great believer in natural remedies, she was always researching the best way to eat and live.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three daughters, Carmen Rinne and her husband James Broderick of Tewksbury, Ursula Costa of Brighton and Inga Prinz of Heilbronn, Germany.
Calling hours Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 6-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Jan 17, at 10 a.m., at the Chapel at St. Mary Cemetery, River Road, Tewksbury.
